WELCOME
Mercury Theatre Wales is a Cardiff-based theatre company that aims to produce high quality, innovative and thought-provoking work. We commit to developing Welsh talent and bringing to the Welsh stage new pieces of theatre, created to be relevant to contemporary audiences and the communities with whom we engage.
In 2012 we completed a highly successful ACW funded tour of ‘Nine Suitcases’ by Bela Zsolt, adapted for stage and performed by David Prince with original music written and performed by Bethan Morgan and directed by Lynn Hunter. These three practitioners make up the core members of the Company.
In 2013, following a period of ACW funded Research and Development, with the help of an ACW Large Grant we toured a brand new production of ‘Spangled’, devised and created by the company and directed by Bethan Morgan.
In 2014 we completed an extensive R&D period to devise and write our exciting, new, alternative Christmas show ‘Anamnesis 25.12′ which toured to Cardiff, Swansea and Pontardawe. We were delighted that the ACW again supported a 2015 tour of the show to Cardiff, Cardigan, Swansea, Merthyr and Neath.
2016 saw the start of our ongoing Domestic Abuse project and our new production ’35 Times’, written and directed by Bethan Morgan. Following a 2017 tour around South and West Wales, the show returned in Autumn 2019 by popular demand and along with public performances, played specific performances for the Police and other service providers.
